Richard Phipps
In Loving Memory
3/15/1934 - 2/5/2010

In memory of our friend, Richard Phipps who passed away as he lived, peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.

Richard enjoyed enriching the lives of others and was truly in his element in Greenville.  Richard’s passions included golf, work and the arts. He loved traveling and especially golf and Peace Center events with his beloved wife Donna. Richard moved to Greenville in 1985 bringing 30+ years of experience in petroleum marketing with him from Standard Oil of California. He found a second career with a small, hopeful company of fifteen gasoline stores. Richard’s experience and guidance led Spinx to grow from 15 to the 125 locations we serve today.

Words can’t begin to describe what Richard has meant to his family, to his company, or to the many people whose lives he has touched.
In his professional life, Richard was respected by his peers and revered by his co-workers. He continued to have fun working into his 70’s and remained a valuable contributor, mentor, and motivator to everyone at Spinx for over 24 years. Richard was a man of honor who stuck to his commitmentsHe was a gentleman, a team-mate, coach and dear, dear friend to many. Richard was a great man whose legacy to Spinx lives on in the many quality character traits he taught us.
