Harper, Adams win Spinx Run Fest marathon
The three races in and around downtown Greenville combined to draw more than 1,800 runners.
Harper, 36, completed the marathon in 2 hours, 37 minutes and 37.97 seconds, winning by almost 4½ minutes in the field of 342 runners. Adams, 22, finished in 3:03:11.08 and won the women's competition by almost 6 minutes.
Greenville runners also won the 10K competition. Matt Shock, 31, topped a field of 353 runners by about 5½ minutes while finishing in 33:40.03, and Ginnie Freeman, 38, finished in 39:21.69 to win the women's competition by a little more than 4 minutes.
Ashley Liew, 26, of Spartanburg won the half-marathon, which drew a field of 1,133 runners, in a time of 1:15:41.17, about 3½ minutes ahead of his nearest competitor. In the closest race, Kristi Arledge, 43, of Greenville finished in 1:26:05.35 to win the women's half-marathon by 11.43 seconds.
